Weekend Song

Today, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1987) legend Rick Nelson would have turned 75.  His untimely death in 1985 cut short a 36-year career in music, film, radio and television dating back to a radio appearance in 1949 in The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, which transitioned into a popular t.v. show in the 1950's starring Nelson, his father, mother and older brother.  During his late teens and early 20's, Nelson recorded a number of classic hits, including It's Late, Teenage Idol, Stood Up, Never Be Anyone Else, Travelin' Man, and Lonesome Town (the latter eliciting mention in Bob Dylan's "Chronicles, Vol. 1," and Dylan saying Nelson was one of his favorite singers).  The song we're featuring to mark his birthday was the first Number 1 song to appear on Billboard's then- brand-new Hot 100 chart in 1958, Poor Little Fool (uh-huh!), a song he reportedly loathed (sorry, Rick!).  Enjoy your weekend.
