Tearful Cartoon of the Day

Last night, President Obama held a public meeting at George Mason University in Virginia to discuss his executive actions to strengthen gun safety laws. The event was virtually in the shadow of the NRA's headquarters, but they declined an invitation to participate.

Obama mocked the paranoid gun confiscation conspiracy theories fanned by the NRA to boost gun sales and block gun safety measures like expanded background checks:
"Yes, that is a conspiracy," Obama said. "I'm only going to be here for another year. When would I have started on this enterprise?"
"The gubmint's coming to take your guns away" message from the gun lobby has been effective in frightening conspiracy-minded sheeple into buying more and more deadly guns, the profits from which wind up in the hands of the gun lobby's coin-operated Rethuglican politicians, who can be expected to do the gun lobby's bidding despite large majorities of Americans supporting gun safety reforms.
