Obama mocked the paranoid gun confiscation conspiracy theories fanned by the NRA to boost gun sales and block gun safety measures like expanded background checks:
"Yes, that is a conspiracy," Obama said. "I'm only going to be here for another year. When would I have started on this enterprise?""The gubmint's coming to take your guns away" message from the gun lobby has been effective in frightening conspiracy-minded sheeple into buying more and more deadly guns, the profits from which wind up in the hands of the gun lobby's coin-operated Rethuglican politicians, who can be expected to do the gun lobby's bidding despite large majorities of Americans supporting gun safety reforms.
