Obama Poised To Make SCOTUS Nomination

President Obama has reportedly narrowed his candidates to three appellate court judges to fill the Supreme Court vacancy left by the death of Antonin Scalia. One of the judges, Sri Srinivasan, was approved 97-0 just three years ago for his current seat on the Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.  Senate Republicans have vowed not to even hold hearings on anyone that Obama nominates in his final year in office, despite recent examples of such nominations in a President's final year in office (see, St. Ronnie of Hollywood and Justice Anthony Kennedy).

The article notes that public opinion is running firmly against the Rethugs' obstruction, but when has that curbed their Obama Derangement Syndrome?  Of course their main fear is the threat of being "primaried" in their next election by members of their far-right base if they show any signs of compromise or rationality. Unlike earlier Obama nominees Justices Kagan and Sotomayor, the Administration and political allies are promising a vigorous campaign to oppose the obstruction and make it an issue in the upcoming elections.

It's shaping up to be another Rethug travesty, not on the level of a Government shutdown which hurt people directly, but enough to once again display their hypocrisy and nihilism.
