Oklahoma City, 21 Years After The Horror
Today marks the 21st anniversary of the bombing of the Murrah Federal Office Building in Oklahoma City, which killed 168 people, including children at a day care center, in the worst act of domestic terrorism on U.S. soil. The perpetrators were right-wing extremists angry at Federal law enforcement actions against the Koresh cult compound in Waco, TX. The evil bomber, Timothy McVeigh, was executed for the mass murder, and his accomplice, Terry Nichols, is rotting away in Federal prison for life.
The horrendous murder of so many and the destruction of the massive building silenced right-wing anti-Government voices temporarily, as Federal law officials looked at the connection of McVeigh and Nichols to right-wing militia groups. Ironically, the chief Justice Department investigator and prosecutor for the Government was Merrick Garland, President Obama's nominee to replace the late "Justice" Antonin Scalia, whose nomination is being held hostage by right-wing Republican Senators (something that the worthless, cowardly Timothy McVeigh would have approved of).
Some lessons are never learned.
