"This Is The Time"

Last night on MSNBC, Khizr Khan, the father of Army Capt. Humayun Khan who died protecting his troops in Iraq, spoke directly into the camera to amoral Rethuglican midgets House Speaker Paul "Lyin'" Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch "Missy" McConnell, and asked them to repudiate their despicable nominee:

"There is so much at stake, and I appeal to both of these leaders: this is the time. There comes a time in the history of a nation where an ethical, moral stand has to be taken regardless of the political costs. The only reason they're not repudiating his behavior, his threat to our democracy, our decency, our foundation, is just because of political consequences." (emphasis added)

Will these two and others who have placed their family jewels in a lockbox and meekly lined up behind this country's homegrown demagogue and neo-fascist buffoon Donald "Rump" Trump have the guts to do what Mr. Khan asks? As Vice President Biden would say, "give me a break." They have cast their lot with a monster of their party's making, putting their political ambitions above the nation's well-being. This is in the DNA of banana Republicans: look out for yourself, your party and your country in that descending order.
