Arpaio Charged With Criminal Contempt (UPDATED)

The vigilante right-wing sheriff of Maricopa County, AZ, Joe "The Profiler" Arpaio, has been formally charged with criminal contempt of court for racial profiling. If convicted, the charge carries a penalty of up to 6 months in jail. U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton signed the documents to charge The Profiler yesterday, signaling that the extremist sheriff is not above the law even if he apparently thinks he is.

The Profiler, an ardent supporter of neo-fascist xenophobe Donald "Rump" Trump, is up for reelection to an seventh term as sheriff, but is facing a major challenge from Democrat Paul Penzone. With Democratic registration and voter interest on the upswing, Arizona is being targeted by Dems for upsets this election year, and The Profiler should be near the top of their list.
