White (Supremacist) House spokesperson and spawn of Bible-banging bigot Mike "Huckster" Huckabee Sarah Huckabee Sanders claimed in yesterday's press conference that she had heard from "countless" employees of the FBI that they supported sociopathic demagogue Donald "Rump" Trump's firing of former Director James Comey. The press were visibly skeptical / amused / derisive of the statement, and late yesterday their skepticism was borne out. Rump had planned to visit FBI headquarters in Washington, but decided to cancel after it was made clear that his presence would not be welcome after firing Comey:
"My sense is most FBI employees feel a loyalty to Comey," one person who works at headquarters told NBC News. "And whether they agree or disagree with the way he handled the email case, like and respect him ... Trump would not be well-received at headquarters."That's in addition to Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe's response to questioning yesterday before the Senate Intelligence Committee which contradicted the White House's claim that the FBI has lost faith in Comey:
"The majority, the vast majority of FBI employees enjoyed a deep, positive connection to Director Comey."Rump's intent in firing Comey was to obstruct the investigation into his and his campaign's ties to the Kremlin, and no doubt he'll nominate a loyalist to him as a replacement. As for the investigation itself, aside from a band of Trumpist renegades who are holed up in the New York office of the FBI, rank-and-file FBI employees are more likely to intensify the effort to get the truth out and bring any guilty parties to justice after the Comey travesty. Hopefully tweets like the one below will harden their resolve.
