Australian Broadcasting Company political editor Chris Uhlmann has a clear- eyed assessment of our national embarrassment, Donald "Rump" Trump, at the recently concluded G20 summit. He nails how much of the world views Rump -- and us (h/t Red Painter, Crooks & Liars):
Watching this (and we hope many do), American journalists and pundits should be ashamed of their timidity and their continuing efforts to "normalize" the dangerously deranged Rump. In addition, Rump's admiration for and obsequiousness toward Vladimir Putin has ominous undertones, which most Western leaders and the majority of Americans have come to recognize.
We'll have more to say about this later.
BONUS: Betty Cracker at Balloon Juice has more on the media's "takeaways" from the G20 that solidify the point that something is truly amiss with our scribblers, juxtaposed with Mr. Uhlmann's incisive commentary.
In every picture from Hamburg except the ones where he's with Putin, Trump looks absolutely lost at sea. pic.twitter.com/O1X3zds8uh— Schooley (@Rschooley) July 8, 2017
