As more of the Nazi marchers in last weekend's right-wing riot in Charlottesville, VA are identified, one in particular drew our attention. The president of Washington State University's College Republicans, James "Allcrap" Allsup, was spotted participating in and speaking at the racist rally that included Nazis, the KKK, skinheads and numerous white supremacist groups. After being outed, the coward tried the "prove I'm a racist" defense, and claimed that he wasn't a racist, but was at the rally/riot "because I talk about history and I talk about politics." In a most benign and inclusive way, no doubt. It will be instructive to see what the national College Republican organization does with Allcrap, who likely has his followers in his kollege klub.
Many of the participants are ducking responsibility and scurrying for cover, as social media spreads their images at the rally and they are identified by name. Maybe they should go back to wearing white hoods to conceal their identities next time.
