According to reports, neo- fascist sociopath Donald "Rump" Trump has decided to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program put in place by former President Barack Obama, delaying enforcement for 6 months. Congress presumably would then have that time to act or not on an immigration reform bill that could save the program's "Dreamers" from being deported, even though many of the over 800,000 affected have never known another country. The issue is being forced by a threatened lawsuit by 10 State Republican cracker attorneys general, who demanded DACA be rescinded.
Coming on the heels of Rump's pardoning of racist former Sheriff Joe "The Racial Profiler" Arpaio, a clear message is being sent directly to Rump's white nationalist, knuckle- dragging base, one that will not be lost on anyone. Here, for example is one of his moronic supporters in Congress:
Ending DACA now gives chance 2 restore Rule of Law. Delaying so R Leadership can push Amnesty is Republican suicide. https://t.co/iYOLxFWp7V— Steve King (@SteveKingIA) September 4, 2017
"Rule of Law," my ass (see: Arpaio, pardon). Also, "amnesty" my ass. These were people brought over the border by their parents when they were children.
Another Republican has a different perspective:
After teasing #Dreamers for months with talk of his "great heart," @POTUS slams door on them. Some "heart"...— Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (@RosLehtinen) September 4, 2017
As it is said, if you're surprised by that, you haven't been paying attention (or you're a Republican Trump Enabler).
Ending the Dreamers program is also monumentally unpopular, as a Morning Consult poll back in April found (click on image to enlarge):
A poll just conducted in August by NBC News/ Survey Monkey shows even stronger support for DACA (and opposition to the Arpaio pardon).
Clearly, the White (Supremacist) House thinks it can finesse this by showing Rump's base that he's on the record as wanting to end the program, while at the same time he's kicking the can over to Congress for final action. At the moment, the mood in Congress seems to follow public opinion that Dreamers should remain here in the only home they've ever known. Let's see how Rump finesses it if and when Congress puts a Dreamers bill on his tiny desk for signature.
