Puerto Rico's Existential Crisis and Trump's Visit

A number of reports today (here, here, and here for example), as well as late night shows, are commenting on the surreal quality of sociopathic con man Donald "Rump" Trump's cursory visit to Puerto Rico yesterday, largely to pat himself of the back for the job he's doing. It's what we've come to expect from this narcissistic, petty buffoon. He spent roughly 4 hours on the island, much of it in photo ops like handing out premature praise to his staff while receiving some beso de culo from an obviously intimidated Governor Rosselló, visiting the well-to-do and lightly damaged San Juan suburb of Guaynabo and flipping rolls of paper towels to what appeared to be his local supporters and perhaps some tourists. He continued to whine about the cost of recovery, and to suggest that Hurricane Katrina was a bigger disaster. This was a photo-op and Potemkin village tour for a person who lacks empathy and basic decency. None of his time was spent visiting -- or even flying over --  the hardest hit areas. Unaware that 93% of the island is still without power, he handed out flashlights saying that "you don't need them anymore." He's living in his own selfish, clueless bubble.
