As we know, the voter
In Federal Court, a panel of Federal judges ruled yesterday that North Carolina's Rethuglican state legislature violated the Constitution in redrawing its Congressional districts along starkly partisan lines to preserve its political advantage in Congress. North Carolina is divided closely between Dems and Rethugs, but the current Congressional map gives the Rethugs a 10 - 3 seat advantage. The Court ordered new district maps to be prepared by January 29, and would have to be firm in time for the 2018 mid-term primaries and elections. As the judges' opinion stated (and contrary to Rethuglican philosophy):
“On its most fundamental level, partisan gerrymandering violates ‘the core principle of republican government . . . that the voters should choose their representatives, not the other way around.'" (emphasis added)Good things happen when good people resist.
