Across The Universe, Cont.

From NASA/ ESA, April 20, 2011: This image of a pair of interacting galaxies called Arp 273 was released to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the launch of the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope.

The distorted shape of the larger of the two galaxies shows signs of tidal interactions with the smaller of the two. It is thought that the smaller galaxy has actually passed through the larger one.

Awesome, W! If you look quickly, it's kinda like a genie coming out of a bottle. Or is that just me hallucinating?

Diva, I can see it!

I appreciate these photos because they give me hope and respite from the ugliness we face here on Earth every day. So elegant, so beautiful!

Diva and donnah -- you can always see something interesting and mind-bogglingly beautiful in those Hubble shots (the Hubble site likens this to a rose on a stem, for example). Glad you both enjoyed!
