Cops Aligning With White Supremacists?

Court papers filed in Sacramento, CA charge police with aiding and protecting neo-Nazi demonstrators during a white supremacist rally in June 2016. Counter-protesters were attacked by the neo-Nazis belonging to the "Traditionalist Workers Party", with several stabbings and beatings inflicted on the counter-protesters. The court papers allege that the police enlisted the aid of the neo-Nazis in identifying counter-protesters, while expressing support for the neo-Nazis' demonstration. One of the counter-protesters, Berkeley teacher Yvette Falarca, was arrested by police for assault and rioting, even after being stabbed and bludgeoned in the protest. Attorneys for the counter-protesters have obtained records from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) that indicate their officers were working with the white supremacists during and after the event.

The local police's role in last summer's white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, VA,which led to the death of an anti-Nazi demonstrator and multiple injuries, has also received criticism for their "slow-footed" response to the street violence. Police remained behind barricades and watched while counter-protesters were set upon by neo-Nazis and Klan members armed with clubs, poles and pepper spray.

The infiltration of police departments by white supremacists has been observable for some time. The FBI warned about this development in 2006, and with the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, the problem has escalated, as unarmed African American males are shot by police as their first resort.

With the rise of neo-fascist demagogue Donald "Rump" Trump, who has received the support of numerous white supremacist organizations, don't expect the Trumpist Justice Department or police organizations to take this crisis in law enforcement seriously. They are the hardest of his hard-core base that believes that a police club and pistol are the only law that matters.
