House Republicans Engaged In Obstruction, Collusion With Trump

If any reasonable American needed further proof of the existential necessity of a Democratic House of Representatives, here are today's prime exhibits:
Two of President Trump’s top legislative allies met with Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein this week to press him for more documents about the conduct of law enforcement officials involved in the Russia probe and the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server, according to three people who were not authorized to speak publicly about the discussion.
Rosenstein’s meeting at his office Monday with Reps. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) came days after Meadows, an influential Trump confidant, warned Rosenstein that he could soon face impeachment proceedings or an effort to hold him in contempt of Congress if he did not satisfy GOP demands for documents.
Trump and Meadows spoke at some point after the meeting, the three people said, but they declined to share details of the exchange. (our emphasis)
That's Mark Meadows and Jim Jordan, two of the ultra far- right "Freedom Caucus" effluvia washed into Congress over the past decade, who also like to vote against raising the debt ceiling and for shutting down the government. In other words, the worst of the worst.

But wait, there's more:
On Wednesday evening, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) served notice to the panel’s ranking Democrat, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), that he intended to issue a subpoena for Comey’s memos, which have been turned over to Mueller.
Nadler, noting that the memos were part of the special counsel investigation and likely could not be handed over to Congress, accused Goodlatte of seeking to create “an excuse” to hold Rosenstein in contempt of Congress. That possible motive, he added, might give the president “the pretext he has sought to replace Mr. Rosenstein with someone willing to do his bidding and end the special counsel’s investigation.”
Earlier this year, a federal judge in Washington refused to order the public disclosure of Comey’s memos in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by media organizations. The Justice Department has said the release would interfere with Mueller’s investigation.
The treasonous bastards are pulling out all the stops to get Rosenstein.

But wait, there's still more:
Eleven House Republicans — Ron DeSantis, Andy Biggs, Dave Brat, Jeff Duncan, Matt Gaetz, Paul Gosar, Andy Harris, Jody Hice, Todd Rokita, Claudia Tenney, and Ted Yoho — have signed a joint letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions calling for the criminal prosecution of Hillary Clinton and a variety of other Obama administration appointees, career FBI officials, and even Trump appointee Dana Boente, who is currently the FBI’s general counsel.
The lead of the letter states that the authors are “especially mindful of the dissimilar degrees of zealousness that has marked the investigations into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the presidential campaign of Donald Trump, respectively.”
This upholds a core principle of the rule of law:  for every lying, treasonous, criminal member of your party being investigated, cook up bogus "crimes" for which you can prosecute your political enemies, for balance!  Hey, it's working for Mother Russia!

So it begins.
Already found a tame judge to jump through demented donnie's hoops and question legality of Mueller's appointment.
Wait until he gets more of his ethically bankrupt federalist society ( redundant) posers to destroy the judiciary system.
One of obama's peace offerings to the thuglicans.
Why does it take so long for d's to learn that thugs never offer an honest comprimise. Even obama's philiosphical ancestors, rockefeller rethugs, learned that and left party to the whack jobs in an act of political cowardice.

K - we'll just have to see how this pans out. It's frustrating to say the least that the weasels actively undermining the rule of law in this country are able to play on the legal probity (if that's what it is) of a liberal judge like Jackson. Beyond that, the prospect of Trumpian judges over-populating an already somewhat compromised judiciary is a truly frightening and disgusting one.

Looking at Jackson's record and decisions I question your describing her as a "liberal" judge.
Looking at her record on the bench she sounds like a federalist society wet dream of judicial perversion.
Remeber her decision in favor of pollution by revoking EPA's decision on Spruce Mine and her role in limiting labor rights by ruling against the NLRD on the need to place posters informing workers of their rights in work places.
Her career in government started when she worked for addled ronnie rayguns administration and it shows.
Wonder if she was one of those nutcases obama had to accept in a package deal to get some ethical judges appointed?

You're right. We didn't check, relying on the fact she was nominated by Obama. "Liberal" was an overstatement, but she's more of a mixed bag when it comes to the decisions we've seen, from the illiberal ones you noted to others like her upholding the ACA's birth control accessibility mandate for employees of Catholic institutions and dismissing the wrongful death suit against Hillary Clinton for the Benghazi (!!!) deaths. We'll see, but the Politico story concluded that Jackson "did not seem persuaded that the potential overbreadth of Rosenstein’s order had actually resulted in any harm to Manafort."
