The Blackout And The Disgrace

Months after Hurricane Maria slammed into Puerto Rico -- home to some 3.4 million Americans -- electricity is still lacking, making it the worst electricity blackout in U.S. history, surpassing the blackouts suffered under Hurricanes Sandy and Katrina by wide margins. It's the second longest blackout in the world, a shameful record for the most powerful and wealthiest nation on Earth.

Bigot and demagogue Donald "Rump" Trump has paid only cursory attention to the disaster -- now approaching its seventh month of recovery -- in the days following, making a brief photo op trip and tossing paper towels to some of Puerto Rico's citizens. It's beyond disgraceful that our fellow citizens should be treated like this, citizens who have contributed to our country in war and peace.
