The recently concluded G7 summit was a Trump-caused disaster (see post below) for the western alliance, but not for the Kremlin, which is understandably delighted in the damage done. However, in a one-on-one grip and grin between Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Kremlin envoy and con artist Donald "Rump" Trump, Trudeau slyly presented Rump with a photo of the hotel / brothel that Rump's German-born grandfather Frederich owned in Bennett, the Yukon, during the Klondike gold rush of the 1890s. For background, here's an excerpt from Gwenda Blair's book, "The Trumps: Three Generations of Builders and A Presidential Candidate," describing elder Trump's Arctic Restaurant and Hotel before he sold it and returned to Germany:
"Frederick Trump saw that it was time to leave. If Major Wood actually enforced the laws regarding prostitution, gambling, and liquor, hotels and restaurants would be far less profitable..." (our emphasis)From the same book, here's an excerpt from a letter sent to The Yukon newspaper by a former hotel patron:
“For single men the Arctic has excellent accommodations as well as the best restaurant in Bennett, but I would not advise respectable women to go there to sleep as they are liable to hear that which would be repugnant to their feelings – and uttered, too, by the depraved of their own sex.” (our emphasis)In other words, ol' grandpa Trump had some illegal activities going on there in which his grandson would not doubt have liked to indulge, but might not want publicized in these "stormy" times. Well played, Mr. Prime Minister.
The corrupt fruit of a corrupt tree.
