The "Forrest Gump Of Republican Politics"

With evil sociopath, cynical obstructionist and human/turtle hybrid Sen. Mitch McConnell (R- Donor Class) promising to advance the Supreme Court nomination from neo-fascist unindicted co-conspirator Donald "Rump" Trump this summer, numerous candidates are being mentioned from the list put together by the right-wing Federalist Society. A leading candidate to replace Anthony Kennedy on the Court is someone that Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) once called the "Forrest Gump of Republican Politics," D.C. Circuit Court Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Unlike Gump, who turned up in all the right historical places, Kavanaugh turned up in all the wrong political places.

Starting in the '90s, Kavanaugh was part of the scurrilous posse headed by Ken Starr trying to bring former President Clinton down with the "Whitewater" faux scandal, where he was on the team "investigating" the suicide of Vince Foster. Whitewater morphed numerous times over several years before arriving at Clinton's zipper, and Kavanaugh was right there sniffing. After covering himself with glory there, Kavanaugh found himself on the legal team of Preznit George "Dumbya" Bush during the hanging chad episode, after which the Rethuglican Supreme Court directed that ballot counting be halted and Dumbya be anointed President-elect. As a reward, he ended up on the White House legal staff, where he helped select Federal judges for nomination. Not surprisingly, his name popped up when a vacancy opened up on the D.C. Circuit Court, and Dumbya tapped him to fill the vacancy.

Given Rump's recklessness and volatility, there's no telling who he may nominate. If he listens to his treasonous son Donald Jr., he could pick Fux News shrieker and unhinged Trumpist "Judge" Jeanine Pirro.  Whomever he picks will represent a clear danger to women's reproductive rights, voting rights, economic equality, and so many other achievements of progressives. Whomever he picks will participate in decisions over Rump's potential prosecution resulting from the Mueller investigation and indictments. Whomever he picks needs to be fought with every tool we can muster.

Lots of speculation on Trump's pick. One interesting thought was him choosing a female Justice. There are a couple of finalists he's considering and he probably thinks he would be perceived as less of a misogynist, he would have a young candidate with a long future as a Justice, and one of the women is a devoted Catholic with clear opinions on abortion. He's probably thinking she would be well received and he would look good.

But who knows? Predicting what this idiot will do is impossible, except always knowing he's going to do what benefits him and his corporate buddies. It's never what's best for the rest of the country.

donnah -- He'll milk this for all its worth as far as superficial suspense and misdirection, being a former reality TV host. Cynically using a female nominee as a weapon to overcome Dem objections would be something he'd do.
