Launching an unprecedented, ill-informed attack on one of our closest allies, neo-fascist Putin puppet Donald "Rump" Trump stated that Germany was a "captive" of Russia (talk about projection!) because of its financial support of a gas pipeline from Russia. Rump launched the unhinged rant at a breakfast meeting with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, accompanied by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Chief of Staff John Kelly, and the U.S.'s permanent envoy to NATO Kay Bailey Hutchinson, who all appeared stunned and embarrassed by Rump's childish outburst directed at Germany.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel later responded calmly to Rump's nonsense in saying she was,
“...very happy that today we are united in freedom, the Federal Republic of Germany. Because of that we can say that we can make our independent policies and make independent decisions.”Germany provides the U.S. with military bases on its soil, and has contributed thousands of soldiers over the years to fight alongside U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
One of the top Russian foreign policy goals is to drive a wedge between us and our European allies, in order to expand their sphere of influence, along with potential aggressive territorial gains in the case of the Baltic states. Rump's clear alignment with Russia has alarmed NATO allies, and pleased kleptocratic thug Vladimir Putin who will be getting a one-on-one debriefing from Rump in Helsinki in a few days time. It's even alarmed the Rethuglican-controlled Senate, which passed a resolution supporting NATO 97-2 as Rump was landing in Brussels.
BONUS: Some are surmising that Rump's rampant misogyny may fuel much of his bad relations with Merkel and other female leaders. Ya think?
BONUS II: Some reactions --
"No, you're the puppet!": At the NATO breakfast Trump reverted back to one of his old, tired traits of projecting.— Bill Madden (@activist360) July 11, 2018
By accusing Germany of being under Russian control, he used his standard line of lies and deflection — which is to accuse others of exactly what he's guilty of.
Mr. Bolton, you need to do your basic job and explain to your boss the most basic facts about NATO! No one is delinquent and no one needs to reimburse the US. https://t.co/Eaej2e53ks— Michael McFaul (@McFaul) July 10, 2018
