Flake: "We Can't Have This On The Court"

Human windsock retiring Sen. Jeff Flake, who delivers impassioned critiques of Trump and the lack of civility in politics only to vote for Trump's policies, said the following today about raging butthead and accused drunken sexual assaulter Brett "KavaNut" Kavanaugh's meltdown in last Thursday's hearing:
“'I was very troubled by the tone of the remarks,' Flake said of Kavanaugh’s testimony. 'The initial defense that Judge Kavanaugh gave was something — like I told my wife I hoped I wouldn’t sound that indignant if I felt that I was unjustly maligned.'

'But then it went on,' he pointed out. 'And the interaction with the members was sharp and partisan. And that concerns me. And I tell myself you give a little leeway because of what he’s been through.'

Flake added: 'On the other hand, we can’t have this on the court. We simply can’t.'
(our emphasis)
Unfortunately with Flake, there's always "the other hand," so we don't know if this is an indicator of his position on KavaNut's nomination, or whether it's one of his pious smokescreens. We suppose that we should hope this is a signal to human/turtle hybrid and evil stooge Sen. Mitch "Missy" McConnell that Flake's a likely "no" vote. Call us cynical, but he's set us up before with his theatrics, so we'll wait for the FBI results and the vote.

Apologies if I have already stated this, but Flake has intentions to run for President in 2020. He can't afford to alienate Republican voters and he claims that he wants to take votes away from Trump. So let's assume the worst (and why wouldn't we) of Mr Flake and figure he's using this protest as a smokescreen to cover his wimpy ass. He looks noble and thoughtful, but he finally caves and gives McConnell exactly what he wants: confirmation.

The Republican Party could have withdrawn Kavanaugh's name at any point, but they know they have the votes. They will force him through, just for another win and notch in their belts. They're a petty, hypocritical lot. Put the Party over the people, time after time.

donnah -- Right. The fact that McConnell is already promising a vote on Fri. leads us to believe that he has the 50 votes (plus Pence in a tie) to confirm KavaNut, regardless of the FBI findings. Eternal shame on them.
