Rudy "Ghouliani" Giuliani, the bumbling TV lawyer for unindicted co-conspirator and crime family boss Donald "Rump" Trump, was on some Sunday talk shows yesterday, and he, let us say, did his client no favors. On ABC, he said that while Rump had changed his stories multiple times about the hush money payments, it was fine because he "wasn't under oath." He went on to say that Rump was having conversations about the Trump Tower Moscow deal into November 2016, when it had been thought that the conversations stopped in January 2016. On Chris Wallace's Fux program, he was pressed on whether Rump knew about the hush money payments and responded, "whether it happened or it didn't happen, it's not illegal", prompting an irritated Wallace to say, "I'm asking you for the truth." (Cue the Cruise - Nicholson exchange in "A Few Good Men"). Here's a typical clip of Ghouliani, the "the truth isn't truth" guy, dropping a big, er, egg on Rump's "no collusion" lie:

We're so happy to see Rump represented in the manner he deserves.

I honestly don't understand Giuliani's role in this administration. If he ever had a reputation as a solid, decent force in New York City, he's trashed it. And what he's doing now is just plain stupid.
Since I don't understand how Trump's “brain” works, I'm assuming Rudy is just comic relief on the public stage. He is horrible at speaking off the cuff, he rambles, backtracks, and contradicts himself all in a single interview. He surely doesn't defend his boss well; he usually offers incriminating evidence against him.
So what's his purpose? Is he yet another distraction, a pathetic attempt at circus-like entertainment? I don't see the deeper function of having him in front of the camera. But if he's causing harm to Trump, then keep him out there.
