Weekend Music

The ageless (yes, geriatric) Rolling Stones will begin their nationwide "No Filter" 13- show tour in April 2019.  Fifty years ago this week, the Stones released "Beggars Banquet," the last Stones album released before the death of original member Brian Jones. Here's a song from that album, "Salt of the Earth" (Jones, however, did not play on this cut).  Hope you enjoy.

A song for our times as well --
Raise your glass to the hard working people
Let's drink to the uncounted heads
Let's think of the wavering millions
Who need leading but get gamblers instead
Spare a thought for the stay-at-home voter
His empty eyes gaze at strange beauty shows
And a parade of gray suited grafters
A choice of cancer or polio.
