As of today, the Dems will control one-half of Congress, with the swearing in of the blue tsunami, giving Rep. Nancy Pelosi the Speaker's gavel once again. Pelosi's expected to be the rock of resistance to pathological liar and demagogue Donald "Rump" Trump (a.k.a. Cadet Bone Spurs) with her mastery of the legislative process and superb strategic and tactical ability. The first order of business for the Dems will be to call the Rethugs' bluff on the Rump government shutdown by funding the remainder of Government through September 30, with the exception of the Department of Homeland Security which would be funded temporarily but without Rump's idiotic $5 billion for the wall that Mexico was supposed to pay for. Another top priority will be for the Dems to pass an "in-your-face" bill aimed at Rethuglican voter suppression, from expanding access to the ballot box and automatic voter registration, to restoring the integrity of the Voting Rights Act.
We can't wait for Speaker Pelosi to get going. It's clear from Rump's rattled behavior (see post below) that he's afraid that she will. It's just another reason that 2019 will be a nightmare for Rump.
