Corrupt demagogue and unindicted co-conspirator Donald "Rump" Trump ("Individual-1") always makes sure his interests are protected above all else, especially the nation's. The Rump government shutdown over his medieval wall that Mexico was supposed to pay for has impacted the National Park Service, which has had to close national parks as a result with trash and bathroom facilities literally overflowing.
But Rump made sure that the General Services Administration (GSA) had funding to keep the tower open at the historic Old Post Office site of his Trump International Hotel. Rump has a 60 year lease from GSA on the property. The tower had been shut down, but the GSA magically "found" funding not associated with their 2019 appropriation to reopen it. Oddly enough, GSA's 2013 lease agreement with the Trump Organization says that Rump's company is responsible for the entire footprint of the Old Post Office building. As New Jersey Rep. Bill Pascell (D) tweeted:
“The Trump admin is using your tax dollars to keep an @NPS site at his luxury hotel open while the rest of Americans are wading through garbage and locked gates. The corruption and disgrace of this govt are without bottom.”Rump sees the Federal Government as an extension of his corrupt, money-laundering company, there to serve him. Officials at the GSA need to be reminded that the days of kowtowing to Rump are coming to an end, and that their legal liability for enabling his corruption is growing.
