Pic Of The Day: Blast Off (UPDATED)

At shortly before 3 a.m. this morning, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched a Dragon space craft for the first time in a test run, signaling the coming return to manned space flight by the U.S.

UPDATE:  The first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket later made a successful landing on a platform at sea. Never ceases to amaze:

Elon has been a little bit looney lately but watching his rockets return from space and land precisely on their launch pads last year was straight out of a 1950s Sci Fi film. Magnificent! I do hope the impending 2nd Age of American manned Spaceflight doesn't just get captured by the military, e.g. Trump's stupid "Space Force".
