In a Reuters / Ipsos poll released Friday, 53 percent of Americans believe that the campaign of Russian asset and corrupt con man Donald "Rump" Trump "worked with Russian to influence the 2016 election." Thirty-two percent say the campaign did not, with the remainder "unsure." Moreover, 50 percent believe that Rump has tried to stop investigations into his campaign, while the same 32 percent don't believe that. The poll was conducted between February 27 and March 4. Nearly half -- 48 percent -- believe that Rump should be impeached, while 40 percent say no, the same percentage of respondents who say they approve of Rump's job performance.
The Reuters report suggests that there is an absolute hardcore of support for Rump that hasn't wavered in their belief in his denials, and may never, despite growing evidence to the contrary:
“We keep waiting for something to happen during the Trump era to vastly change the way people view him,” said Kyle Kondik, a non-partisan analyst at the University of Virginia Center for Politics. “It hasn’t happened yet,” he said. “Maybe at this point there just aren’t many minds left to change.”Rump once famously said he could shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue and not lose any support. It's one thing he's gotten right.
