QOTD: Foxes and Hens

"Beto (O'Rourke) only wants to be positive. He doesn't want to be negative. He doesn't like naming villains. He doesn't like being against anything. It's all about what you're for. And so the question hovering over Beto is, Can he actually deliver against those issues if he just wants to be relentlessly positive? When you have a problem of foxes eating hens, kumbaya is a recipe for slaughter." -- TIME magazine editor-at-large Anand Giridharadas on MSNBC today.

O'Rourke, who announced his candidacy for President today is in Iowa campaigning. His positivity is a plus, as he showed in his near victory over sinister Sen. Ted "Tailgunner Ted" Cruz last November. O'Rourke's built a strong following, not only of millenials but of Hispanic and minority voters. But Giridharadas has a point: this will be an exceptionally nasty race against a criminal who needs to retain the White (Supremacist) House to put off indictments. O'Rourke or anyone else not prepared to slug back and go negative when required may find themselves on the losing end.
