Earth Day QOTD: Sir David Attenborough

"In the 20 years since I first started talking about the impact of climate change on our world, conditions have changed far faster than I ever imagined. It may sound frightening, but the scientific evidence is that if we have not taken dramatic action within the next decade, we could face irreversible damage to the natural world and the collapse of our societies." -- Sir David Attenborough, speaking in his new documentary "Climate Change - The Facts" for BBC. As was noted in our Monday Reading post today, the Trump regime has deliberately taken us backward in responding to the climate change crisis, largely in response to their fossil-fuel industry contributors fearing profit loss, but also out of pure malicious taunting of environmentalists and vindictiveness toward President Obama.

If anyone sees what is happening environmentally and isn't terrified, then they are liars and deniers. It's a proven fact and those who are willfully ignorant will only get in the way of our attempts to save the planet. A profit-only society cannot be sustained and the destruction of the planet for monetary gains will certainly not be stopped by this administration.

So we have to do whatever we can, both personally and as a group movement to reinstall strict protections as well as new ones where necessary. Because this administration only wants one kind of green.

donnah -- So well said. For now, until we replace the fossil fuel shills in the government, both personal conservation choices and actions, along with strengthening the environmental movement, is an absolute necessity.
