No Deal For The Bad Gringo

We have dueling statements for you (emphasis added). Which one would you believe? (hint: consider the source):

"We have an agreement on something that they will announce very soon. It's all done. They have to get approval. They will get approval. If they don't get approval, we'll have to think in terms of tariffs." -- con man and Extremely Stable Genius Donald "Not Exonerated" Trump yesterday.

Or:

"Aside from what I've explained there is no agreement of any kind, that has been made known. Everything I've been talking about was known since Friday." -- Mexican Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard, also yesterday following Trump's statement.

The first "tell" is Trump saying "we have an agreement on something." On something? Like who grows the better avocados?

When it was revealed on Saturday that the "deal" that Trump supposedly forced Mexico to accept under threat of tariffs was actually put together last March, Trump's bogus "victory" was undermined. In truth, he blinked in the face of growing Rethuglican and corporate resistance to tariffs on Mexican goods, and he needed a lie to cover his retreat.

BONUS:  Meanwhile, for the second day in a row, the Washington Post continues to swallow and parrot the Trump line.  Do these stenographers not read their editorial board's opinions or their own op/ed page?  WTF?
