Trump Rape Victim's Witnesses Come Forward

The New York Times is reporting that the two women that journalist E. Jean Carroll confided in after sexual predator and sociopath Donald "Grab 'Em" Trump raped her in a dressing room at Bergdorf Goodman in the mid-90s have come forward to corroborate her story in an interview. Carol Martin, a former anchor on WCBS-TV, and author Lisa Birnbach. They both described the conflicting advice given to Carroll, Martin telling her Trump was too powerful to accuse, and Birnbach saying she should report the rape to the police. She chose to remain quiet until recently. As with so many victims of sexual assault, Carroll came to blame herself for the attack.

The Times story indicates that a fuller account of the interview of Carroll's contemporary witnesses will be published later today, so this post will be updated as appropriate.

UPDATE: The Times' expanded article.

The MSM are going to have to work pretty hard to keep this story "disappeared". If the NYT is giving it some coverage, at least that's something.

The punditocracy may have decided Carroll's case doesn't merit much attention, but I suspect a lot of those suburban women voters we keep hearing about will feel otherwise (and not only they).

Infidel -- That's right. The numbing effect of Trump's depravity has many in the Beltway media paralyzed. Not so suburban (and other) women who see themselves in Carroll, especially after Trump's denial and "she's not my type" slur.

I was sorry when this story broke because I knew the woman would be attacked, accused, and humiliated. I was sad because she has lived with this terrible secret all these years. I was angry because all of the usual vitriol came at her when she finally spoke up and there was little coverage on her side.

Trump is a rapist. i wonder how many more women have been victims of his violence and are silent, seeing what becomes of those who come forward. He's always abused his power and he's always going to. And it seems he's never going to be held accountable, much less punished.

donnah -- There have to be dozens more with a similar story. It's an outrage and a crime that he appears to be sliding past every accusation.
