José Andrés Steps Up Again

Award- winning chef and humanitarian José Andrés could be basking in his fame as a celebrated chef and not trouble himself with disasters around the world. He's chosen another route. As a founder of World Central Kitchen in 2010 in response to the earthquake in Haiti, he has been at the forefront of providing food to people suffering from natural disasters around the world, including in Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria struck in 2017 where over 2 million meals were served to the victims. Now, he and his team are headed to the hurricane ravaged Bahamas:

Among many awards for his humanitarian efforts, Andrés won the 2015 National Endowment for the Humanities humanitarian medal, and was a 2018 nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize, which we dearly hope he's nominated for and receives this year.

BONUS: Andrés not only aids victims of natural disasters, he fights political ones, too. He was sued by sociopath Donald "The Chosen One" Trump after pulling his planned restaurant out of the Trump International Hotel in Washington, DC, in reaction to Trump's racist comments about Mexicans. If there were a "good citizen" medal, he should get that one, too.
