Mid-Week Tribute Song: Ginger Baker

When British drummer Ginger Baker died this past Sunday, we lost one of the most acclaimed drummers in the rock / blues / jazz genre. His stint with the supergroup Cream lifted him to international fame as rock's first superstar drummer, although he considered himself a jazz drummer first. His drum kit was also iconic: Ludwig Silver Sparkle with two bass drums, two floor toms and two top toms for mid-range percussion, giving his sound a deep, rich effect. One of Cream's songs from their first album, 1966's "Toad," showcases Baker's skill as a drummer. Enjoy.
