As a malignant narcissist and possessor of a delusional, damaged ego, Donald "The Chosen One" Trump imagines himself to be an authoritarian ruler who need not abide by laws and norms. His disregard for the Constitution has led him to proclaim that Article II "allows me to do whatever I want," and his admiration for dictators and despots is a matter of public record. It's reached a level of depravity that he boasted that he and murderous North Korean ruler Kim Jong Un "fell in love."
Reports from inside the White (Supremacist) House are emerging that indicate that staff members are shocked and "genuinely horrified" at the way Trump conducts himself on phone calls with such authoritarians as Russian thug Vladimir Putin, murderous Saudi Mohammed bin "Bone Saw" Salman, and the Philippines's strongman Rodrigo Duterte, among others:
"The first call Trump made that set off alarm bells came less than two weeks after his inauguration. On Jan. 28, Trump called Putin for what should have been a routine formality: accepting a foreign leader’s congratulations. Former White House officials described Trump as 'obsequious' and 'fawning,' but said he also rambled off into different topics without any clear point, while Putin appeared to stick to formal talking points for a first official exchange." (our emphasis)It was that same obsequiousness that was on public display at the Trump - Putin meeting in Helsinki last year, where Trump sided with Putin over our intelligence community over the question of Russia's interference in the 2016 elections. It was a cringeworthy display that the late Sen. John McCain described as "one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president."
While he treated his role models with deference and undeserved respect, Trump consistently used the opportunity to inject his own narcissist needs, while being insulting and dismissive to our long-time allies:
"Trump’s personal goals seeped into calls. He pestered Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for help in recommending him for a Nobel Prize, according to an official familiar with the call.
'People who could do things for him — he was nice to,' said one former security official. “Leaders with trade deficits, strong female leaders, members of NATO — those tended to go badly.'” (our emphasis)There's more in the Post story that demonstrates again why this lawless moron is singularly unfit to hold the office that he does.
