Sen. Lindsey "Huckleberry" Graham, a cowardly, compromised clown and man desperate for the affection / protection of cult leader Donald "Impeachable Me" Trump, has written to Ukraine shakedown co-conspirator Secretary of State Mike Pompeo asking for any State Department documents relating to former Vice President Biden's interactions with Ukrainian government officials regarding Burisma. The move is obviously an attempt to distract from and counterbalance the enormous attention placed on Trump's bribery and extortion scheme that's at the heart of the impeachment inquiry. It resurrects a tired, bogus accusation that, as Vice President, Biden pressured the then-Ukrainian government to fire a corrupt prosecutor in order to protect Biden's son, who was on the board of Burisma.
Graham, a slippery former "never Trump" advocate, has flipped to become one of Trump's staunchest supporters, despite having once called Trump "unfit" to be President, and far worse. Graham is up for re-election in South Carolina in 2020 and trembles that Trump's Red Cap Cult won't support him unless he gives Trump his debasing, ass-kissing loyalty.
This should also be a cautionary tale for Biden, who has often stated that once Trump is out of office, Republicans will experience an "epiphany" and come to their bipartisan senses, perhaps after a round or two of his back slapping and Irish mother stories. If the cynical action by his former Senate "colleague" and the past few months of smears haven't disabused him of that fantasy, perhaps he's not clear eyed enough to govern in the real world.

If I weren't so distraught over the thought of the Senate saving Trump's large ass over impeachment, this new stunt by Lindsey would tick me off. But he has become a caricature of a politician, a pathetic joke and laughingstock. I'm sure that pretty soon Barr will chime in with the “data” he's been badgering European governments for and he and Lindsey will dazzle the country with their bullshit. And half the country will gobble it up.
I don't know where we are headed, but it doesn't look good.
donnah -- There'll be a fierce disinformation campaign waged by Trump and his cult to try to disprove the facts or divert attention from their Dear Leader's criminal behavior. The upside is that the majority of the public disapproves of him, and the numbers aren't changing. 2018 was just the beginning. Although the likelihood of his getting removed from office by the Senate is nil, the evidence of his crimes (Ukraine, Russiagate, etc.) is a matter of historical record now that Trump and the Grahams of the world can't erase.
