Sunday Reflection

"We must have passed 30-35 fire trucks going the other way. We grabbed our family, we grabbed our belongings, and we evacuated our house…and they're driving towards the fire. There are sixteen fires raging throughout the state of California right now. Hundreds of thousands of people have been evacuated. And I just want to take this moment to say the biggest 'thank you' to the brave men and women who are out there right now fighting those fires on our behalf. You are absolute heroes to us and we cannot thank you enough." -- TV host James Corden last week, speaking for hundreds of thousands of Californians whose lives are being forever changed by the wildfires sweeping the state. Risking their lives while battling not just the flames, but the Santa Ana winds that are seeding new fires wherever hot embers blow, thousands of California firefighters are finally getting control of most of the fires across the state.  Corden's right: you can't thank them enough for what they're doing.
