Things That Go "Boom" On Sunday Morning
An explosion shook a Dow Chemical plant in Plaquemines, LA earlier today, according to reports. The plant is one of the largest petrochemical plants in Louisiana. Dow claimed that there were "no injuries" on the site, and that the accident was caused by a vessel rupturing.
Interestingly, while details are absent as to what chemicals were involved in the explosion, the company said that they were conducting air monitoring tests.
Dow Chemical experienced an explosion at its chemical plant in North Andover, MA in January, 2016, which injured five workers, four seriously. That plant also had an explosion in October 2013, which killed a worker.
