Just as the House announced the Articles of Impeachment against sociopath and Kremlin asset Donald "Tovarich" Trump last week, it was noted that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was accorded an Oval Office visit, something that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wanted and is at the center of the Ukraine shakedown scandal. The timing was meant to show up the Ukrainians, who are fighting to remove Russian forces from their soil, and to signal Trump's support for the Kremlin.
Lavrov's friendly visit with their asset didn't go unnoticed by Russian state media, either, who gloated over the visit:
"As Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov returned home from his visit with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office last week, Russian state media was gloating over the spectacle. TV channel Rossiya 1 aired a segment entitled “Puppet Master and ‘Agent’—How to Understand Lavrov’s Meeting With Trump.”The Russian government is delighted that the person they put in the Presidency is still singing their tune, and they show both delight and a measure of contempt for their asset. What the nature of the kompromat they have on Trump will be revealed some day. The courts may help eventually by unblocking access to his financial records and tax returns, etc. In the meantime, we have the power of the ballot box, as we showed in 2018's blue wave. A tsunami is called for next time.
Vesti Nedeli, a Sunday news show on the same network, pointed out that it was Trump, personally, who asked Lavrov to pose standing near as Trump sat at his desk. It’s almost the literal image of a power behind the throne." (our emphasis)
