A far-right former Rethuglican candidate for Senate arrested yesterday in Florida on fugitive warrant. The white nationalist and alt-right loon who goes by the name Augustus Sol Invictus (born Austin Gillespie -- go figure) was arrested on "charges of kidnapping, domestic violence and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence." He had been sought by law enforcement in South Carolina. "Invictus" ran as a Rethug for the Senate against now-Sen. Rick Scott in 2018. He attempted to run against Sen. Marco Rubio in 2016 as a "libertarian," but failed to get their nomination. The loon apparently was a key player at the far-right KKK / neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville in 2017 that culminated in the vehicular homicide of Heather Heyer by one of their cohort. "White nationalist Richard Spencer, who organized the deadly Charlottesville rally that refocused attention on the country's frayed race relations, had credited Invictus with drafting the core tenets behind the rally."The Southern Poverty Law Center has been tracking "Invictus" for some time, and he's a bundle of racist, nativist, Holocaust-denying, seditious garbage. We hope the authorities can put him away for a very long time, preferably in a maximum security mental health institution.
