News item: Former National Security Advisor John Bolton is now "prepared to testify" if subpoenaed in a Senate impeachment trial.
Bolton “willing to testify.” Two cynical possibilities occur to me: Bolton made a deal that he’d muddy the case against Trump in testimony in return for lighting the Iran fuse or now that it’s lit he’s confident President Pence would welcome him back in to the suck.— Schooley (@Rschooley) January 6, 2020
It’s almost as if there are no good faith actors in the Republican Party. https://t.co/o0hMUPHPbf— Molly Jong-Fast (@MollyJongFast) January 6, 2020
Having said this, he has absolutely no even remotely plausible claim to refuse to obey a subpoena from the House.— Josh Chafetz (@joshchafetz) January 6, 2020
If his testimony isn't privileged, it isn't privileged. https://t.co/nf8BDIWgbk
The key words here, though, are "if the [GOP-controlled] Senate issues a subpoena"...— Natasha Bertrand (@NatashaBertrand) January 6, 2020
Call us cynical, but we smell a rat -- a bureaucratic- infighter rat with a mustache nicknamed "General Snowball." Now that Bone Spurs is backing us into an armed conflict with Iran -- a Bolton wet dream -- perhaps he believes supporting him by sabotaging the impeachment is the right play to make. Not offering testimony to the House impeachment inquiry sure makes it look like he's got, or wants to make, a sweetheart deal with Moscow Mitch for Bone Spur- friendly testimony, or he knows witnesses won't be called at all. Rep. Schiff should call his bluff and subpoena him immediately.
