Witnesses, Documents And McConnell's Tell

Far down in this article on the maneuverings of corrupt hack and sinister scrotum-faced Sen. Moscow Mitch McConnell to keep new witnesses and documents from the trial of demagogue and unstable narcissist Donald "I Have A Favor To Ask, Though" Trump was this nugget:
"...McConnell has already laid the groundwork to oppose subpoenas for any witnesses, a move that would lengthen the trial for days, if not weeks — an outcome the White House and Trump are eager to avoid with the President's February 4 State of the Union looming
McConnell successfully kept all 53 GOP senators unified in opposing Democratic efforts to add subpoenas for witnesses to his initial trial organizing resolution on Tuesday, including on votes to subpoena Mulvaney and Trump administration documents."
Trump and the Republicans want a short, bogus "trial" of their Dear Leader to end well before his February 4 State of the Union address. It's a certainty that if the "trial" is over by then, with Trump being "acquitted" by the Republican majority, Trump will use the State of the Union to take a bragging, arrogant, in-your-face victory lap in front of a national audience. It will be a like a Trump rally on the floor of the House, with the Dems sitting stonefaced while he claims "total exoneration" and castigates Dems for a "coup" that's failed. His lying will be staggering, even for him.

When Speaker Pelosi established February 4 for the State of the Union, we had that sinking feeling that she'd just established the outer time limit for the Senate trial, which Moscow Mitch will make certain is ended well before then.
