Sunday Reflection: Speak For Yourself

"Early bird gets the worm, but the second worm gets to live. Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy." -- master ventriloquist and Charlie McCarthy's voice, Edgar Bergen. Bergen, born on this day in 1903, saw his vaudeville and radio act rejuvenated with the advent of television variety shows in the 1950s and 1960s. Despite a long active career, he / Charlie liked to joke about laziness, saying "hard work never killed anybody, but why take a chance?"
