15 Million Italians On COVID-19 Lockdown
Italy, with a population of 60 million, has approximately 15 million of its citizens on lockdown in restricted areas as the coronavirus / COVID-19 has accounted for 233 deaths as of today. Large regions in northern Italy, particularly around Milan and Venice, are virtually quarantined as Italian health officials seek to contain the spread. Outside of China, Italy has the most fatalities resulting from COVID-19 infection.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, our preeminent infectious disease authority, indicated today that it's possible that the U.S. could impose regional or community bans on travel, but more it would be more likely that restrictions on social activities, closing venues where people gather, etc. would be imposed instead.
