Republican Senate leader and corrupt hack Sen. Moscow Mitch McConnell was missing in action during the negotiations between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Treasury Secretary and plutocratic automaton Steve Mnuchin on the coronavirus relief package, which passed the House yesterday by an overwhelming vote. Just days before, Moscow Mitch was blasting the House effort, saying:
"Unfortunately, it appears at this hour that the Speaker and House Democrats instead chose to produce an ideological wish list that was not tailored closely to the circumstances. One is reminded of the famous comment from President Obama’s first chief of staff: 'You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.'"Of course, Moscow Mitch's approach would favor more tax cuts for businesses and the wealthy, including a payroll tax cut that would come out of the Social Security and Medicare accounts. How predictable; to paraphrase Moscow Mitch, "To a Republican hammer, the whole world looks like a working family nail."
He was also planning for a Senate spring recess, as if to show that he wasn't "panicking" over the virus that sociopath Donald "Dear Leader" Trump claimed was a Democrat and media "hoax." Then, Moscow Mitch and his Senate cohort shifted gears Thursday, cancelling the spring recess. (However, despite the emergency House bill passing yesterday, he let the Senate adjourn for the weekend to bring things back to his turtle pace).
After the stock market tanked following Dear Leader's botched address Wednesday from the Oval Office, the collective panic among senior Republicans forced their hand into going along with the House bill. Dear Leader himself gave the green light to his legislative cult to pass the legislation. So now, Moscow Mitch and his gang will click their heels and fall in line, a day late and a dollar short.
