TRUMP passes the buck: "Governors are supposed to be doing a lot of this work ... the federal government is not supposed to be out there buying vast amounts of items, and then shipping. We're not a shipping clerk. As with testing -- the governors are supposed to be doing it." pic.twitter.com/UiwKIttBPr— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) March 19, 2020
(We would gladly switch out any competent shipping clerk for the dolt standing at the podium!)
Starting to wonder if it's a good idea to have a president who clearly has no idea what he's talking about speak extemporaneously about a pandemic in public each day https://t.co/XV8op2jeOQ— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) March 19, 2020
I think in 2 or 3 weeks we're going to look back at this week and the arc of Trump's press conferences and ask why the hell everyone wasn't screaming for his resignation before he made it even worse.— Schooley (@Rschooley) March 19, 2020
Trump asked why the US wasn't prepared with more testing if, as he claimed, he knew long ago it would be a pandemic: "We were very prepared. The only thing we weren't prepared for was -- the media. The media has not treated it fairly." He's just saying nonsense.— Daniel Dale (@ddale8) March 19, 2020
TRUMP JUST NOW: "We were very prepared."— CAP Action (@CAPAction) March 19, 2020
Then why is the United States so dangerously behind other countries in COVID-19 testing?pic.twitter.com/3XhY3OvUsJ
At the World Economic Forum in January, business leaders privately expressed their concerns about the coronavirus directly to Trump. He essentially told them he was convinced China had everything under control and no one should worry. https://t.co/sBg6wxiGgy https://t.co/ug7AVCCuB5— Brian Schwartz (@schwartzbCNBC) March 19, 2020
Who could have predicted that in a crisis Trump would remain the same sinister, dishonest, ill-informed buffoon he been his whole life? https://t.co/hoPMnTJ0Cc— Jeet Heer (@HeerJeet) March 19, 2020
Finally, the only thing Trump at which is competent: racist distractions--
Close up of President @realDonaldTrump notes is seen where he crossed out "Corona" and replaced it with "Chinese" Virus as he speaks with his coronavirus task force today at the White House. #trump #trumpnotes pic.twitter.com/kVw9yrPPeJ— Jabin Botsford (@jabinbotsford) March 19, 2020

Trump dumped the chores of public management of the virus on his hapless vice prez, then saw how Mike was getting good feedback. Heaven forbid the egomonster be losing out to anyone else for attention! So he butted back in so he could be back on teevee every day.
The thing is, Mike Pence can stick to a script and lie about testing and masks and vaccine trials, while the bigheaded boob cannot. Trump never wants to look bad and he doesn't want the country to think he's failing, so every day he lumbers up to the podium and pretends he knows what's going on and ad libs all sorts of crap that isn't true. And then Fauci or whoever else is Doc of the Day has to come out and gently try to set the record straight. great way to handle a global crisis!
It is infuriating and it's dangerous. You can't lie your way out of a pandemic.
donnah -- it's looking like it's all catching up to him, at long last: the lies, the stupidity, the self- interest over public interest, etc. etc.
