Racist Governor Proclaims "Confederate Heritage Month"

For so many bigots especially in the south, the Civil War never ended, it just morphed into a slow burning campaign to return to institutionalized white supremacy. The flag that they proudly display, the treasonous Confederate battle flag, should have been banned as was the Nazi flag in Germany after WW II. The "cause" that the traitors fought for, let's be clear, was about keeping African Americans in a brutal state of slavery, not about "states' rights" or "heritage." The cause was slavery, propelled by racism.

We're reading that the clownish white supremacist governor of Mississippi, Tate "Taint" Reeves, proclaimed April as "Confederate Heritage Month," as if celebrating the historic treason of his state was worth celebrating at all. No less than the neo-Confederate collection of bigots that call themselves the "Mississippi Sons of Confederate Veterans" posted Taint's proclamation on their Facebook page with a little flourish of their own:
“'God bless the Confederate Soldier. He shall never be forgotten. Deo Vindice!' the Mississippi SCV’s April 3 Facebook post read about the proclamation. 'Deo Vindice,' Latin for 'Under God as our Vindicator,' appeared on the official seal of the Confederacy and was the Confederacy’s motto."
Taint was resistant to taking any public health action as the COVID-19 pandemic spread. Now, his state, which is contiguous to the hot spot of Louisiana, is in danger of being overwhelmed by the virus because of his criminally late and weak response.

We'd like to see a series of rallies, sponsored by the "Mississippi Sons of Confederate Veterans" around the state, waving their flags of treason and sporting their MAGA cult caps. Taint should be at every one, shaking hands and mingling. That way, some of the unfinished work left over from the Civil War can finally be completed.
