Then And Now: Leading From Behind

The Very Stable Genius, Sunday, March 22:
"The governors, locally, are going to be in command. We will be following them, and we hope they can do the job. [snip] We're really backing up the governors. The governors have to go out and do their thing." (our emphasis)
The Very Stable Genius, Monday, April 13:
“The president of the United States calls the shots. They can’t do anything without the approval of the president of the United States. [snip] When somebody’s the president of the United States, the authority is total.” (our emphasis)
It's been clear early on that authoritarian and mentally unstable con man Donald "Moron Vector" Trump wanted to shift responsibility to Governors for getting medical equipment and for shutting down economic activities in their states back in March. That was the hard job that he's incapable of tackling. He took no responsibility for the 70 days that the virus spread while he golfed, had rallies, and downplayed the threat.

Lately, now that some Governors are seeing a bending of the COVID-19 curve and are forming regional compacts to coordinate on their eventual economic "reopening," authoritarian Trump is all about grabbing the reins (and credit) from them. Watching the economy slide, he wants to force the easing of COVID-19 mitigation measures despite warnings that he risks throwing gasoline on the fire.  There's obviously no Constitutional basis for his latest boast, but it reflects his warped view of himself as a virtual dictator who is beyond the law.

Most. Dangerous. President. Ever.
