Now he doesn't need a broker, he needs a lawyer:
Republican Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina is stepping aside as chairman of the influential Senate Intelligence Committee while he's under investigation for stock trades he made ahead of the market downturn sparked by the coronavirus pandemic. [snip]
He stepped down after the FBI served his lawyer with a search warrant and Burr surrendered his phone Wednesday, a senior Justice Department official told CNN. The use of the search warrant had been signed off at the highest levels of the Justice Department, as is protocol, the official said.Burr is not seeking re- election in 2022 but, prompted by today's events, he may be gone much sooner than that.
His fellow insider trading (allegedly!) colleague, Georgia Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R- New York Stock Exchange), hasn't yet received similar treatment by the "Justice" Department, leaving some to speculate that the FBI got the green light to go after Burr since he was partially responsible for the committee's report in April confirming that Russia interfered in the 2016 election on behalf of Putin puppet Donald "COVID Donnie" Trump. Loeffler, on the other hand, has been an eager Trump ass- kisser ever since she was appointed to the seat in January by Georgia Gov. Brian "COVID Vector" Kemp, which might explain the disparity in treatment.
