Sunday Reflection: In Color
“He that would enjoy life and act with freedom must have the work of the day continually before his eyes. Not yesterday's work, lest he fall into despair, nor to-morrow's, lest he become a visionary,--nor that which ends with the day, which is a worldly work, nor yet that only which remains to eternity, for by it he cannot shape his actions." -- James Clerk Maxwell, a Scottish scientist, inventor and physicist, developed a process for the first color photography.
On this day in 1861, Maxwell demonstrated his principle of color photography, the basics of which are still followed. Below is the first color photo, a tartan ribbon that Maxwell and photographer Thomas Sutton made history with.
