The decision by the Supreme Court earlier today to uphold legal protections for immigrants brought to the U.S. as young children is the second major blow this week delivered to demagogue and bigot Donald "Kids In Cages" Trump, following the LGBTQ rights ruling on Monday. In a 5 - 4 decision, Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for the majority that the Trump regime failed to provide a "reasoned explanation" for its action to withdraw the protections under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, but indicated that the Trump regime could try again if they considered the option of forbearance or the impact on the DACA recipients' lives.
The treatment of the almost 700,000 "dreamers" has been made a incendiary political issue by bigot Trump, whose cult wants to eliminate the immigration of Hispanic and black populations. If Trump does decide to take another shot at DACA in an election year, he'd do so simply to energize his xenophobic base, since the vast majority of dreamers are productive, tax paying citizens and many are or were members of our military. It's also a loser for Trump, with the public strongly backing dreamers remaining in the U.S.
