Sunday Reflection: Prince

“Like books and black lives, albums still matter.”

As a Minneapolis native, Prince Rogers Nelson, known as the brilliant songwriter and musician Prince, would be saddened and angry about what's happened there recently with the police killing of George Floyd. But he would be proud of the response across the country and world as people are demanding reforms in the criminal justice system and community policing. Born on this day in 1958, Prince sold over 100 million records, was awarded 7 Grammys, an Academy Award, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. His accidental death in 2016 from an overdose of fentanyl shocked his fans worldwide.
